Meet John McCain. McCain meet Obama.

Over 5 weeks now and you cannot debate a 70 plus year old man---who keeps asking you to debate him anytime /anyplace?

What gives?

"Just tell me one thing Barack Obama has done that you admire," I asked a prominent Democrat. He paused and then said that he admired Obama's speech to the Democratic convention in 2004. I agreed. It was a hell of a speech, but it was just a speech.

I'm done with speeches. It's time to debate the old man and not run away from a fight. What's your plan?
To have only but 2 debates before D-Day. Continue with the the all hat no cattle stump speeches?

Wow. So we should give Senator McCain like a ton of free press since he can't afford it on his own? The loser always wants more debates...

Classic reply. Yeah it's all about school yard winners and losers and not about electing the leader of the free world. It's like george bush all over again in 2000. Great talking points but always shy away from debates.

To be fair, the guy was a genuine badass:

When told by his captors that he was to be paraded in public, Stockdale slit his scalp with a razor to purposely disfigure himself so that his captors could not use him as propaganda. When they covered his head with a hat, Stockdale beat himself with a stool until his face was swollen beyond recognition. He told them in no uncertain terms that they would never use him. When Stockdale heard that other prisoners were dying under the torture, he slit his wrists and told them that he preferred death to submission.

And he didn't "reluctantly" boast about it nearly as much as McCain.

I know, that's why I regretted the comment.

Stockdale was still active duty, (VADM), when I was at the academy. I had the honor of having dinner with him. He's the only MOH winner that I've ever actually met.

Sometimes the instinct to use all available weapons can overwhelm common decency.

Ummm yeah, everyone will stay at home in the middle of summer when weather is above 85 degrees and usually sunny and watch freakin' debates.
